I have been teaching at Detroit Mercy since 2009. I am dual board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Child/Adolescent Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist and a Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I have over 17 years of advanced practice experience in the specialty area of mental health and maintain an active clinical practice.

I am a proud 2016 Nightingale Award winner and was named 2017 Educator of the Year by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (Michigan chapter). Additionally, I was awarded the 2017 Clinical Practice Award by the International Society of Psychiatric Nurses. The best part of my day is working with students. The mission of Detroit Mercy fuels my passion to teach future nurses about vulnerable populations. I love teaching undergraduate nursing students that mental health nursing is more than a specialty, it is the foundation of our practice.
