Technology Continuity - Keep Working from Off-Campus

Below are resources and tools geared to help employees work remotely, should the need arise.  

Remote access to TitanNet and other on-campus resources (Banner Application Navigator, G and H drives, etc.)

  • Follow the Remote Desktop Setup instructions for Windows or Mac on your off-campus device. 

Enable Call Forwarding

  • If you are on-campus, follow a tutorial below:
  • If you are off-campus and need phone forwarding set up on your account, please create a Help Desk ticket providing your university phone number and off-campus number.

Microsoft Office Collaboration Resources

  • Microsoft Teams - provides a platform for ongoing chat, video calling, screen sharing, and file storage.
    • Download Microsoft Teams.
    • App may also be accessed through a browser.  Login to office.com with your Detroit Mercy email credentials and click on the Teams app.
  • Skype for Business - provides chat, video calling, and screen sharing.
    • Download Skype for Business
      • Note: Skype for Business is a separate application and service from Skype for home users.  Please be sure to use the link above to install the correct software.
      • Users with accounts requiring two-factor authentication must create an App Password.
    • Only the chat functionality is available through the Outlook app.  Login to office.com with your Detroit Mercy email credentials, click on the Outlook app, and look for the Skype icon in the top right corner.  
  • Microsoft OneDrive - provides file storage.
    • Download Microsoft OneDrive.
    • App may also be accessed through a browser.  Login to office.com with your Detroit Mercy email credentials and click on the OneDrive app.
  • Microsoft Office 365 - install Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) on up to five personal devices.
    • Follow instructions for a one-time registration.
  • Microsoft OneNote - a collaborative virtual notebook.
    • Available through the Microsoft Office suite.
    • App may also be accessed through a browser.  Login to office.com with your Detroit Mercy email credentials and click on the OneNote app.

Personal Devices

  • Please avoid saving and storing University documents on your personal computer.  You may either use the Remote Desktop application to work on network drives (e.g. G or H drive) or your Detroit Mercy OneDrive account.
  • Keep your antivirus up to date.
