Siena Heights University will cease offering programs at the end of the 2025-2026 academic year. 

Students can complete their program of study at University of Detroit Mercy

Detroit Mercy will offer automatic admission to Siena Heights Teach Out students into its Teach Out Programs for the students who are eligible as defined below.

  • Any student actively enrolled in good standing at Siena Heights University who meets the admissions standards of the specific program to which they seek entry. Teach Out Students shall be a beneficiary of this MOU by enrolling in a program agreed upon by Siena Heights and Detroit Mercy as listed in Schedule A.
  • Siena Heights students who wish to participate in the teach out at Detroit Mercy must participate in the Siena Heights comparable program designated by UDM in Schedule A.
  • We welcome students who wish to attend Detroit Mercy under a major/program not eligible for the Teach Out to apply as a traditional transfer student. Although they will not be eligible for the same Teach Out benefits, they will be eligible for a Detroit Mercy academic scholarship if admissible to their program of choice. Transfer credit will be evaluated upon admission. The admission process is the same as the Teach Out students, outlined below. Schedule B.

    Detroit Mercy is committed to ensuring that the teach-out does not result in unexpected increases to a student's reasonable expectation of total cost of degree. Detroit Mercy will offer students tuition and/or scholarships and grants that are comparable to the Siena Heights packaging guideline and are reflective of student's individual financial needs. Detroit Mercy may offer Siena Heights students additional financial aid opportunities to apply toward regular Detroit Mercy tuition rates, as long as the student maintains consecutive enrollment, makes satisfactory academic progress, and remains in good standing.

Teach Out Student Admission Process

  1. Complete the Detroit Mercy Application by choosing Transfer as the type. There is no application fee.

  2. Submit official Siena Heights transcripts to Detroit Mercy. Please request electronic delivery through the National Student Clearinghouse or through Parchment.com. Given that transcripts come from a third-party vendor, there will be a small charge to have transcripts issued.

  3. Detroit Mercy advising for Winter 2026 begins October 27 and Registration begins November 3. Winter classes begin January 12, 2026.

  4. International Students: In addition to the items listed above, send a copy of your proof of English Proficiency, and proof of funding documents for one year of study to Detroit Mercy at admissions@udmercy.edu. After admission, international Teach Out Students should request the Designated School Official {DSO) at Siena Heights to transfer the Form 1-20 to Detroit Mercy's Director of International Admissions, Weihong Sun at: sunwe@udmercy.edu.
