Biography

Danielle Alexander joined UDM in 2026 as an instructor of first-year writing. Prior to that, she taught at Oakland University, Madonna University and several metro Detroit high schools.

Alexander earned her doctorate in Literacy, Culture and Language from Oakland University. She also holds a Master of Arts in Educational Technology and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Journalism from Michigan State University.

Her research focuses on writing pedagogy and writing teacher identity. Her current scholarship examines the role of writing-focused communities of practice in supporting instructors, the ways instructors’ identities influence writing instruction and assessment, and how classroom experiences cultivate students’ confidence, engagement and passion for writing.
