Biography

Mallory Tanis is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and national certified counselor (NCC). She has worked as a licensed professional counselor at a private practice since 2022. She is currently completing her Ph.D. from Duquesne University in Counselor Education and Supervision. In 2020, she earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Divine Mercy University.

Tannis' professional organization memberships include the American Counseling Association, Michigan Mental Health Counselors Association, Association for Experiential Education, Pennsylvania Counselor Association, Pennsylvania Association of Counselor Education and Supervision and Ohio Counseling Association. She has certification in Dialectical Behavior Therapy as well as field traumatology through the Green Cross Academy of Traumatology.

Tanis’s current research activity is on the relationship between the supervisory working alliance, emotional intelligence and counselor self-efficacy.

On a personal level, Tanis was born and raised in southeast Michigan. She values time with family, traveling and reading. She joined the University in May 2026 and became a full-time faculty member in the Counseling program in August 2026.
