The following RFP applies to faculty covered under the UDM/UDMPU contract

Request for Proposals - Academic Year 2022-2023

The deadline for proposal submission is January 15, 2022

In accordance with the Detroit Mercy/UDMPU Contract - Internal Research Grant Fund - $150,000 in research monies is available to faculty covered by the Detroit Mercy/UDMPU Contract for academic year 2022-23. All faculty are strongly encouraged to apply for and spend Faculty Research Award (FRA) grant monies.

In accordance with the contract, the MFA created an Internal Research Fund committee for academic year 2022-23 to review proposals. The committee members are as follows:

Please be aware of the following:

  • The deadline for submission is Friday, January 15, 2022 at 11:59 p.m.
  • All funds must be spent before June 30, 2023.
  • There is currently no limit on requested funds; however only one proposal, as the Principal Investigator, is allowed per faculty during this 2022-23 cycle.
  • Faculty who serve on the committee and submit a proposal will not be involved in any way in the review of his/her proposal.
  • Proposals are funded based on available resources and merit. (The average grant was $5,700 in 2020 and $9,300 in 2021)
  • To submit a proposal, please follow the instructions outlined in the FRA Request for Proposal document (docx). Also include the Excel Budget Spreadsheet.
  • Consult the Job Classification and Pay Levels Guidelines document for information about Research Assistants’ hourly pay.
  • The proposal and all supporting documentation must be electronically submitted to FRA@udmercy.edu.
  • Proposals must contain all items requested and strictly adhere to instructions.
  • A Progress Report (pdf) must be electronically submitted using this template to FRA@udmercy.edu by January 15, 2022 for proposals awarded in cycles with a spending deadline of June 30, 2021 and of June 30, 2022. If your Progress Report is not received by the deadline, no new proposal will be considered by the committee.
  • IRB approval must be completed or pending by January 15th, 2022 - If applicable. For any questions related to the IRB approval visit the review board website or contact the chair of the IRB committee Michelle Wheater.
