Biography
Wil Marquez uses innovative design principles to probe new ideas in architecture, public space, equity and design. His 23-year tenure go hand-in-hand with his enthusiasm about new ways professionals contribute to meaningful yet stimulating environments.
He holds a master's degree in Architecture from the University of Michigan and undergraduate degree in Architecture from the University of Minnesota.
Marquez’s experience with community-based planning, development and design projects highlight his comfort for integrating architecture, art, development and landscape into highly visual, yet practical possibilities -- but with a twist.
In late 2025, he joined the Detroit Collaborative Design Center at the University of Detroit Mercy and advocates for design centers as critical training centers that advance the fields of architecture in a just city. He is motivated by the students he mentors and building platforms so staff can do their most important work.
