Biography

Brittany Hardy earned her Ph.D. in Classical Studies from the University of Michigan and teaches first-year writing courses at Detroit Mercy. She has taught college-level writing and literature courses since 2018. Her teaching emphasizes writing as a reflective and social practice, with particular interests in research writing, place-based learning and public-facing writing. She teaches writing as a mode of thinking that helps students develop critical habits of inquiry and engage more thoughtfully with the world around them.

In addition to teaching, Dr. Hardy is the Content and Outreach Coordinator at the Detroit Mercy Writing Center. Her research interests include gender, politics and colonization in ancient Greek poetry, as well as translation studies and writing pedagogy.
