Detroit Mercy's DCDC, The Kresge Foundation and Live6 Alliance Celebrate Historic Hawkins Apparel Co.

Live6 Alliance and Detroit Mercy's Detroit Collaborative Design Center present an exhibit that honors the legacy of the Hawkins family, founder of Hawkins Apparel Company and Detroit's first black-owned women's clothing store.

This exhibit will feature an open display of historical items that includes apparel. The event kicks off with a special reception from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, at the Neighborhood Home base, located at 7426 W. McNichols in Detroit. The exhibit will run from Sept. 23 until Oct. 21, 2022.

This reception and exhibit are sponsored by The Kresge Foundation and National Endowment for the Arts. Partners include the Live6 Alliance, Detroit Mercy's DCDC and Design Cord Detroit.
