Assistant Professor of Political Science, Genevieve Meyers’ areas of expertise include public administration, public management, and public policy. Her research interests include administrative reform, democracy and democratization, ethics in public service and politics in Africa.

Her publications have appeared in the journals Public Organization Review, Public Money and ManagementPublic Integrity, and African Journal of Public Administration and Management. Her most recent publication; “Decentralization in Uganda: Towards Democratic Local Governance or Political Expediency?” is a chapter in the book Challenges to Democratic Governance in Developing Countries (Springer, 2014).

She holds a Ph.D. in Public Management from Florida International University; an M.A. in Public Policy and Administration from the Institute of Social Studies, the Hague, Netherlands; and an Honors B.A. in Political Science from Makerere University in Uganda. She has extensive teaching and research experience. She has taught at Eastern Michigan University, Marshall University where she was the University’s first Multicultural Faculty in Residence, Florida International University and Makerere University. She joined Detroit Mercy in 2013.
