Detroit Programs and Events:
United Way Fight for Earned Income Tax
The Michigan Legislature is considering the elimination of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), a key program that's proven to help keep working families out of poverty. This week, Governor Snyder will send his budget recommendations to the Legislature. As they decide which programs to cut and which to keep, we must make sure our lawmakers hear from us about the importance of the EITC. Use this simple tool to send an email to legislators urging them to protect the Earned Income Tax Credit!
Want to help local Detroiters avoid foreclosures? Come help The United Way in these efforts by coming to one of the upcoming events and help the staff meet with residents who are facing foreclosure and resolve issues on the spot! The first event will take place next week, February 17 and 18th at the Masonic Temple in Detroit, with an expected number of homeowners over 1000, there will be plenty of different ways to help out with this event. To register for this event or upcoming events click here.
