Detroit Prevention and Awareness in the Community
DPAC is a new student organization on campus that aims to spread awareness of sexual assault, dating violence and domestic violence and to inform the campus community of resources available for dealing with such situations. DPAC will put on various campus events to teach about the warning signs, severity, and proper responses to situations of sexual assault, dating violence and domestic violence as well as peer education groups led by students. Additionally, they are partnered with local agencies that provide support and services to victims of sexual assault, dating violence and domestic violence in order to connect student volunteers and university resources with community service opportunities.
DPAC is constantly looking for student volunteers to help with on campus and community events. If you are interested in applying, you can complete their online application. To find out more, please like our Facebook page or contact Marianne Grima at email@example.com or call her at 734 718 1546.
Rx for Reading Detroit
Rx for Reading is a UDM literacy initiative that works to expand access to children's books and support families in reading with their children. Since 2014, they have distributed over 17,000 children's books and partnered with local schools and Head Start programs to read with over 150 kids in our community. Rx for Reading could not exist without UDM students who give their time, energy, and commitment to help distribute books to our community partners and spread the love of reading to kids in our city.
