theatreRead about the University’s history of theater

Since the late 1800s, theater has been an important part of what has defined the institution that is now University of Detroit Mercy. From its “club years” (1880 to 1950), through becoming a department of its own (1950 to 1971), to its present day as both academic department and professional “Theatre Company,” theater at UDM offers an ever-evolving complement to quality education.
In his thesis, A History of Theater at The University of Detroit 1880 - 1997: Striving for Excellence (volumes I and II), Delvin W. Johnston takes readers through a journey of theatrical performances at the University. It is now available for review in the UDM Libraries’ theses collection.
