Nearly 300 UDM student-athletes named to Athletic Director's Honor Roll

The University of Detroit Mercy Athletic Department recognized 271 students for their work in the classroom at halftime of the men’s basketball game vs. UIC on Jan. 19.

“It is a great time to be a Titan in the classroom and on the field,” said Interim Director of Athletics Jason Horn. “Our academic staff has done a great job of providing the services that our student-athletes need to stay motivated and be successful.”

Nearly 500 people attended a reception for the student-athletes and their parents prior to the men’s basketball game against UIC. The reception honored those who attained a minimum of a 3.0 GPA during one of the semesters during the 2012 academic year and earned the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll accolade. The list includes individuals from every varsity sport and also spirit group members including the pep band, dance, and cheer squad to total 271 members.

“This is a great opportunity for us to recognize the work that our student-athletes do in the classroom and outside of athletics,” said Amy Gasahl, academic coordinator & assistant director of compliance. “We have a number of athletes who perform very well in the classroom and they are good representatives for UDM Athletics.”
