UDM alumni, colleagues and friends gathered for a reception on Aug. 15 to honor Linda Small, associate vice president for Annual Giving and Alumni Relations, who retired from the University after serving for more than 32 years. Small was the quintessential event planner and host, who helped to nurture strong relationships with alumni by creating alumni boards in each of the undergraduate schools and colleges, supervising numerous fundraising programs, including staffing the President’s Cabinet and its executive committee, and numerous annual giving programs. Most importantly, however, Small was always a welcoming presence at University events and a true ambassador to alumni. In recognition of her commitment and service to the University, she was presented with UDM’s Honorary Alumni Award. Alumni who need assistance can contact Barbara Milbauer, interim vice president for University Advancement, at 313-993-1250 or udmgrad@udmercy.edu.
