Barbara Milbauer is named interim vice president for University Advancement
Barbara S. Milbauer ’66 continued a long-standing association with UDM upon recently accepting the role as interim vice president for University Advancement. Milbauer previously held this position at UDM from 1993 to 2001 before she retired. She held a similar position at Mercy College of Detroit, as well as other administrative roles, from 1977 to 1993. She came out of retirement, and returned to the University in 2010 as a development officer assigned to the College of Engineering & Science.
“With 30 years of experience in higher education administration, advancement programming and comprehensive campaigns, Barbara has the expertise to lead University Advancement at this time,” said UDM President Antoine M. Garibaldi.
Milbauer replaces Gregory Cascione, who took an early retirement from his position as vice president for University Advancement to work as a consultant and to pursue opportunities to teach and write in the areas of development, non-profit management, philanthropy and higher education. Cascione joined UDM in 2004 as director of development for the College of Business Administration. He was promoted to interim associate vice president for Development in 2006, to associate vice president for Development in 2007 and to vice president for University Advancement in 2009.
