School of Architecture
Dean Stephen Vogel has announced his decision to step down from his position, effective May 15, to focus on full-time teaching and consulting in the School of Architecture following a one-year sabbatical. Vogel joined the University as dean in 1993. An expanded article on Dean Vogel will appear in the Nautilus, the School’s electronic alumni newsletter, in early summer.
College of Business Administration
CBA is now offering a dual Master of Business Administration/Master of Health Services Administration. The College also offers two new graduate certificate programs: the Graduate Certificate in Ethical Leadership & Change Management and the Graduate Certificate in Finance.
College of Engineering & Science
E&S honored Evelyn Hirt ’76, principal engineer, operational systems directorate at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory with the Engineering Alumna of the Year award and Michael Dudzik ’75, vice president, science and technology, Washington operations at Lockheed Martin Corporation with the Science Alumnus of the Year award during the College’s 79th Annual Slide Rule Dinner Dance,

College of Health Professions/McAuley School of Nursing
Beginning in fall 2011, CHP will offer a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Information Management (HIM) program, which will prepare students to become experts and leaders in this increasingly important field. The baccalaureate degree is a collaboration between CHP and Computer and Information Systems in the College of Liberal Arts & Education.
College of Liberal Arts & Education
UDM will serve as university partner for the new Jalen Rose Leadership Academy, co-founded by Jalen Rose, a University of Michigan alumnus and former Fab Five basketball player, and Michael Carter ’72, ’78, an entrepreneur who holds a liberal arts degree and an M.B.A. from University of Detroit. The Academy is one of four new public charter high schools in Detroit supported by Michigan Future, Inc. Scheduled to open in September 2011, the school will provide a supportive educational opportunity for Detroit students to help them meet specific Michigan Future expectations.
