NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION
Welcome to UDM! Orientation is a great time, and the Orientation Staff has a long tradition of generosity and hospitality. Orientation at the University of Detroit Mercy happens in the Summer and Fall. Summer Orientation is known as SOAR (Summer Orientation, Advising, and Registration). Fall Orientation is known as PTV (Prologues, Transitions, & Viewpoints). Both Orientation Programs are planned and coordinated by a collaborative group of university staff and students, who have come together to assist students and families with the skills, knowledge, and resources that will enable our students to be successful at UDM academically, socially, and spiritually. This is our opportunity to team up and help new students understand UDM’s Mission and to feel welcomed to the University community.
By attending SOAR, parents and families will learn what departments are available to answer questions. New students will take placement tests and be advised on class schedules by caring faculty and administrators; participants will be given the opportunity to interact with others undergoing the same transition.
By attending PTV, we hope that you can begin to answer the question of how you will embark on your new journey as a member of the university community. Our student staff will help lead you on your way. We have no doubt that you will embrace your new academic and social community and look forward to embarking on a great future.
