Attempted Armed Robbery

Location: / Off Campus – Fairfield St. Between Florence St. and Grove St.
McNichols Campus– The University of Detroit Mercy Public Safety Department is investigating an Attempted Armed Robbery that occurred off campus on Jan. 20, 2014. Two UDM students were walking northbound on the east side of Fairfield when they were approached by the perpetrators.
Perpetrator #1 opened his coat and showed the victims a silver color handgun in the waistband of his pants and told them he would shoot them if they screamed. Perpetrator #1 then asked the victims what they had on them and they responded that all they had were their student ID's. Perpetrator #1 then told the victims to walk with him northbound on the sidewalk while Perpetrator #2 walked in front of the group. Perpetrator #1 then asked the victims where they were going and they told him they were going to the fraternity house on the corner of Grove at which time they were allowed to walk to that location. Both Perpetrators’ then escaped on foot north on Fairfield toward McNichols. Nothing was taken from either victim and no one was injured.
Perpetrator #1 is described as a Black Male in his 20’s, 5 feet 4 inches tall, heavy build, wearing dark pants and a dark jacket, armed with a silver color handgun.
Perpetrator #2 is described as a Black Male in his 20’s, 5 feet 10 inches tall, wearing a tan color jacket with a hood, dark pants.
