"I had a great experience on ASB. The house work we were doing is all stuff I've done either for friends on their houses or as a part of a past job I've had. It was good though to get to help people with working on the house and sharing some of my knowledge and experience. The site itself was nice, but it would have been a little bit better to have gotten to work with other people besides just our group. All in all though I had a great time and hope that I can come back and get a chance to go on other ASB sponsored trips."

Description of trip:
Four students and a University Minister ventured to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, to assist with the rebuilding efforts at St. Clare Parish in Waveland, Mississippi.  St. Clare is coordinating hurricane relief efforts in their vicinity, matching volunteers with needed projects.  We spent the week assisting in rebuilding a home that was flooded with 12 feet of water, and suffered significantstructural damage, but was not completely wiped out, as were most homes along the Mississippi coast.  The team de-shingled, and then re-shingled a shed, knocked down a damaged fireplace, worked on insulation and ceilings and cleaned up yard debris. Accommodations were at Our Lady of Fatima's St. Vincent de Paul in Biloxi, and we experienced firsthand the effects
of Hurricane Katrina in our daily commute when we had to travel out of out of our way to avert the Bay St. Louis Bridge, which is still out of commission.
