Immigration policy and human rights: David Bacon

October 23, 2013

Time: 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Location: Ford Life Sciences Building, room 113

Photojournalist and writer David Bacon will give the presentation, "An immigration policy based on human rights." The event is sponsored by UDM's Carney Latin American Solidarity Archive (CLASA).

Bacon will discuss how in the national debate over reforming U.S. immigration policy, the human rights of migrants is rarely a criteria for making or judging proposals. Yet with 200 million migrants in the world today, the global debate over what rights migrants have, and who is responsible for ensuring them, is greater than ever.

Bacon has covered issues of labor, immigration and international politics for several publications, and has been active in issues of immigrant labor, particularly in California. See the CLASA event page for more.
