Midnight Bicycle Tour of Detroit
October 4, 2013
Time: 9:00 p.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Location: Meet at Kassab Mall
Be a part of one of UDM's longest running traditions! Bring your bike or borrow a bike to explore Detroit on Friday, Oct. 4 starting at 9 p.m. Over 200 UDM students are expected to participate in the 24th annual Midnight Bicycle Tour of Detroit.
Escorting the bikers will be members of the UDM Public Safety Department. Before the night is over, the 25-mile round-trip excursion will include such sites as the Palmer Park/Palmer Woods neighborhoods, Indian Village, Greektown, the Cultural Center, Eastern Market, the Boston-Edison District and a ride along Woodward Avenue through downtown Detroit.
The Tour includes rest stops at places of interest and a hot dog break at midnight at Detroit's famous Lafayette Coney Island. Cyclists will return to campus around 1 a.m. on Saturday morning.
Registered UDM students can participate in the ride for free, and may purchase a limited-edition moisture-wicking Bike Tour T-shirt for $5.
Non-UDM students can participate for $20, which includes the limited-edition T-shirt.
For more information or to borrow a bicycle at no cost, contact the Student Programming Board.
On-site registration begins promptly at 8 p.m. The ride will leave McNichols Campus at 9 p.m., starting from the Lillie B. Kassab Mall near the Livernois entrance.
Attendees should register online with Event Brite to reserve your T-shirt.
(This Oct. 4 event date was re-scheduled from a previous date. If you signed up for the Sept. 20 date, that will be honored for Oct. 4. Contact Adam Hollmann for any questions.)
Fee: Free for registered UDM students; $20 otherwise
