Celebrate Spirit! is the official welcome to the new school year for UDM faculty, staff and students. We welcome people of all faith traditions to ask God's blessing on the new school year. Celebrate Spirit! starts in Calihan Hall and a picnic will follow in the Fisher Fountain area.

Fr. Gilbert Sunghera, S.J. will be the celebrant this year for the Celebrate Spirit! Mass and Howard Gray, S.J., assistant to the president at Georgetown University, will be our guest speaker.  Fr. Gray is has served in a variety of roles within the Jesuit community, including as rector, director of formation, dean of the Weston Jesuit School of Theology and provincial superior of the then Detroit Province. Fr. Gray has served on a dozen boards of Jesuit universities and high schools and has written extensively on Ignatian spirituality, ministry and the Jesuit mission in higher education.

The Celebrate Spirit! theme this year is "Serve Community, Respect Diversity, Enhance Knowledge."  The theme was chosen by the Library/Instructional Design Studios committee, which is co-sponsoring the event for 2013. Thanks to the sponsor of the Celebrate Spirit! picnic: Chrysler Group LLC.
