Chris Lowney: Heroic living

April 9, 2013

Time: 12:45 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Location: Ford Life Sciences Building, room 113

Chris Lowney, formerly a Jesuit seminarian who later served as a managing director at JP Morgan & Co. on three continents, offers the perspective that each of us has a leadership opportunity and responsibility, and that we can begin by role-modeling values like self-awareness, ingenuity, heroism and love.

Lowney's first book, Heroic Leadership: Best Practices from a 450-Year-Old Company that Changed the World, has been translated into ten languages. That 450-year-old company? The Jesuits, the religious order founded by Ignatius of Loyola.

His most recent book, Heroic Living: Discover Your Purpose and Change the World, challenges us to transform work and home, and beliefs and actions, into an integrated whole. Lowney asserts we need to make tough choices, get bottom-line results and adapt to an ever-changing world. But we also need to find peace and fulfillment by grasping the greatness that we are called to.

This presentation is especially intended for UDM students.

Lowney will also be at the "Faith in the D" event in the evening.  For more on Lowney and his books, see
