Self-injury awareness presentation

March 13, 2013

Time: 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Location: Engineering Building, room 220

The McAuley School of Nursing will host a panel discussion to raise awareness of self injury.  Students, faculty, staff and the general public are all welcome to attend.

Self-injury is an ineffective way of dealing with stress or emotions by causing yourself physical harm (e.g. cutting). It is a growing concern on college campuses and involves both males and females. The issue becomes even more acute as the stresses of a semester mount.

The panel will include a person who previously self-injured as well as a mental health professional.  They will address what we can do to support individuals around us who may participate in self injury.  It is more common than you think.

This event is partially funded by a UDM Micro Mission Grant.
