Dining for Success - An Etiquette Dinner

ettiquetteDining etiquette can be critical to career and job search success!

When an employer invites you to interact in social situations they want to see how you conduct yourself.  This is especially important if the job you want requires you to meet a certain standard of conduct when meeting with clients and superiors.  During this type of a meeting or interview you are scrutinized on your table manners and social skills.  It is also possible that an interview may last for several hours and extend through mealtimes.  In this instance the will graciously offer to host you for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner.  The meal is a time to visit and interact, and this is always more important than the function of eating.  The provides the opportunity for the employer to see if you are a good fit for the company or organization. 

Each spring the Career Education Center in conjunction with SODEXHO, the campus food service department sponsors Dining for Success, an Etiquette Dinner. This dinner is especially beneficial to graduating seniors. Participants polish their dining etiquette skills while enjoying a meal especially prepared for this event.
