Get Involved with the CEC
Let's do Great Things together for UDM!
Volunteer as a speaker at the Career Education Center and make a real difference in the life of a University of Detroit Mercy student. Your stories, experiences and successes as a professional in your chosen field can have an invaluable impact on students as they prepare for a career. The Career Education Center will host several events during the 2009-10 Academic year. Volunteers will assist co-op students, graduating seniors and recent alumni with practice interviewing skills, resume and cover letter critiquing and class room speakers for the CEC 3000 level courses. Additionally, the CEC will host workshops and panel discussions to assist UDM students and alumni with Job Search Techniques, Networking and Interview Skills.
Help a Titan Practice for an Interview
Share your expertise with students and assist them in developing their interview skills. The Practice Interview program provides UDM students and alumni with the opportunity to practice their interviewing skills before participation in an actual interview. If you or a representative from your company with interviewing experience are interested in volunteering please contact Tracey Knowles to coordinator a date and time.
Interviews are approximately one hour long, including a 45 minute interview and 15 to 20 minutes to provide relevant feedback and to offer students a chance to ask you questions. We are emphasizing the behavioral interview format and can provide sample questions if needed. You can volunteer for a half-day or full-day schedule as follows:
½ day AM schedule - 9am – 1pm (4 students)
½ day PM schedule - 1pm – 5pm (4 students)
Full day schedule (includes a one hour lunch provided by CEC at the UDM Loft) - 9am – 5pm (7 students)
