SOAR: Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration
Phase I of the UDM freshman orientation program is SOAR: Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration. It's a two-day, overnight session where incoming freshmen become familiar with life at UDM by actually living on campus, touring the buildings and registering for the first semester classes that you and your advisor decide fit your needs.
SOAR is offered five times throughout the spring and summer:

During SOAR, you will:
Take placement exams
Placement exams in English, math, chemistry (for select programs), foreign languages, and computer skills will be given. Results from placement exams will help your advisor recommend the appropriate level of courses. For information on how you can prepare for your exams, check out our placement exam page.
Meet your Academic Advisor
During SOAR, you’ll have the chance to meet with an academic advisor, who will help you map out a plan for your undergraduate course work leading to a degree in your chosen field.
Register for the fall semester
Your academic advisor will help you register for your fall semester courses that you can leave SOAR with your actual schedule.
Each orientation session has limited capacity. Reserve your preferred session today.
