
Application Process
Application Deadlines
The three terms at UDM run from the first week of September through mid-December (Term I), the first week of January through the end of April (Term II) and the first week of May through mid-August (Term III). The deadlines for applications are as follows:
Term I - June 1
Term II - October 1
Term III - February 1
These deadlines have been established in order to allow adequate time for applications to be processed and for admitted students to obtain a visa. Although we will process applications received after the deadline, please be aware that admitted students who are unable to arrive on campus on time may be required to defer their attendance to a future term.
Application
International students must use the International Student Application form.
You must apply online at: https://jackson.udmercy.edu/apply/. Your application will be kept on file until all required academic documents have been received.

Required Documentation
IMPORTANT: Beginning January 2, 2008, in addition to the documents indicated below, UDM will require a certified course-by course evaluation of all required academic transcripts and diplomas performed by a recognized educational credential evaluation service such as World Education Services (WES) or Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE). (See item #5 below.) This evaluation must be received for any application postmarked on or after January 2, 2008 that is submitted for the fall term 2008 or for a subsequent term.
All application packets must include the following materials:
1. An application fee, payable by credit card (VISA, MasterCard, Discover, Diners Club), certified check, or money order in the amount of $50.00 USD. This fee is non-refundable and does not apply to any other fee. No application will be considered without an application fee.
2. Official academic transcripts certified by the school (with certified English translations) from your work in the equivalent of an American high school (if you are applying for an undergraduate program or you are applying for a graduate program but have less than a four-year degree).
NOTE: If your college-level credentials are from a Canadian institution and in English or with an accompanying certified translation into English, and you earned more than 24 semester or 36 quarter hours, you need not send high school transcripts.
3. Official academic transcripts certified by the school (with certified English translations) of all coursework you have taken at the University level.
4. Official Certificate of Degree (with certified English translation).
5. A certified evaluation of all required academic transcripts and diplomas performed by a recognized educational credential evaluation service such as World Education Services (WES), or Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE). Request a course-by-course evaluation and ask that the results be sent directly to the University (see address below).
NOTE: If your credentials are from a Canadian institution and in English or with an accompanying certified translation into English, you may submit them directly to the University of Detroit Mercy.
6. A Statement of Financial Support completed and personally signed by your sponsor and by you and supporting financial documents.
7. A Signature Page from the International Student Application Form personally signed by you.
8. A copy of the information pages of your passport
NOTE: All transcripts, certificates, and financial documents must be originals or copies certified by the issuing institution. We will not accept photocopies, notarized copies, or faxed documents.

Upon receipt of your application, International Admissions will evaluate your academic credentials and financial documents. Please know that we cannot begin the evaluation process until all required academic documents have been received.
During the admissions process, we will contact you by e-mail to notify you of the following:
- Receipt of your application
- Any missing or unacceptable academic or financial documents
- Your admission into a program of study
- The mailing of your Form I-20 immigration document
Please be sure that you have indicated your current e-mail address on your application form.
Students who are refused admission to a program will be notified by regular mail.
