You are invited to join the Department of Performing Arts and the Detroit Mercy Theatre Company for our 2nd annual Titan Slam – Monologue Competition!

Did you read an amazing play during the pandemic and now you are itching to perform? Well, we got you covered with our Titan Slam – Monologue Competition! Prove you still got what it takes to master the stage!

$2,000 in cash prizes are available to our top three performers in two categories.

This year’s theme is “Resist, Laugh, Love”!  

This competition is open to all students and alumni of Detroit Mercy. 

Steps to submitting your monologue.

  1. Be creative and have fun!
  2. Record a 60-90 second monologue from any source and upload it to YouTube. The monologue must be recorded in one take.
  3. One monologue per participant.
  4. Fill out our registration form and submit your video via a YouTube link by September 24, 2021. 
  5. Sign up today by filling out this form!
  6. The top ten finalist will be notified by September 28 and will be invited to perform LIVE on October 2 at Homecoming at Detroit Mercy.
  7. All participants should plan to attend the Titan Slam Finalist presentation on Saturday, October 2, 2021 from 5:00-6:00 pm on the Detroit Mercy McNichols Campus - during Homecoming 2021!

Current Detroit Mercy Student (any major): 1st place: $500; 2nd place: $300; 3rd place: $200 - Alumni, former Student or Professional Guest Artist: 1st place: $500; 2nd place: $300; 3rd place: $200

Who is judging this? 

This year’s judges will be retired Associate Professor David Regal, Professor Emeritus Dr. Arthur Beer and current theatre faculty!  Get critiqued by your former Acting Professor! 

Winner Announcement:

The top ten finalist will perform live at Homecoming 2021 on Saturday, October 2, 2021 from 5:00-6:00 pm.

The top three students and top three alumni will receive cash prizes totally $2,000!
