Award Notification
Students with complete financial aid applications will be notified of their Financial Aid Award beginning in April. The notifications will be sent by email to the student’s Detroit Mercy email address.
Students will be instructed to review their award and pending requirements by logging into My Portal account. Students can accept, decline or reduce the award presented right from their My Portal account. The Scholarship and Financial Aid Office will not be mailing award letters to students. All account information can be viewed in their My Portal account, including class schedule, tuition and fees.Haven’t received an award notification?

Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Probation Contracts
Contracts for students not meeting SAP standards are emailed prior to the start of the term for which the student is on probation. The contracts must be signed by the student and the student’s academic advisor and returned before any federal or state aid can be applied to the student’s account.
Students who are offered contracts and show progress, but do not yet meet SAP standards may be offered contracts for subsequent terms until he or she finally meet the requirements.

Refunds
Refunds, for those enrolled as indicated on the award notification and have an excess of financial aid, are mailed to students beginning the first Friday of classes, and on a rolling basis as funds become available. Be sure to update your mailing address in My Portal. For faster and more efficient delivery of refunds, please set up direct deposit for student refunds in your My Portal.
