University Ministry Mission

Inspired by God's unconditional love, and rooted in our Catholic, Ignatian, and Mercy traditions, University Ministry accompanies the Detroit Mercy community as we learn to know, love, and serve God and one another.

Our Vision:

We form students through experiences of community, prayer, action, and reflection.

University Ministry facilitates:

  • Liturgies, including University-wide religious celebrations such as Celebrate Spirit
  • Prayer vigils, Eucharistic Adoration, and Praise and Worship sessions
  • Faith in the "D": Interfaith events and inter-religious dialogue opportunities
  • Retreats: opportunities for rest, reflection, and fun
  • University Ministry Internship Program
  • Christian Life Community (CLC) faith sharing groups
  • Pastoral counseling and spiritual direction
  • Justice and advocacy programs based in the Catholic Social Tradition
  • Weekly Service in the City and monthly Saturday service projects
  • Domestic service and justice immersion trips
  • Residence hall programs
  • The use of chapels and multi-faith reflection spaces on each campus
