Zamalin, Alex
Alex Zamalin
Director of the African American Studies Program and Assistant Professor, Political Science. Alex Zamalin, Ph.D., has expertise in the following areas including African American political thought, American politics and political theory. He is the author of "African American Political Thought and American Culture: The Nation’s Struggle for Racial Justice" (New York: Palgrave Macmillan, 2015), "Struggle on Their Minds: The Political Thought of African American Resistance" (New York: Columbia University Press, 2017) and co-editor of "American Political Thought: An Alternative View" (New York: Routledge, 2017). His work on race, political theory and social justice has appeared in "New Political Science and Women’s Studies Quarterly." He holds a doctorate and a Master of Philosophy from City University of New York and a Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers College.

Zarkowski, Pamela
Pamela Zarkowski
Adjunct Professor, School of Dentistry, Division of Practice Essentials & Interprofessional Education; Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, teaches community dentistry, ethical, legal issues including topics related to cultural diversity, leadership, women's issues and occupational hazards. Prof. Zarkowski lectures in continuing education courses and has published extensively in the areas of legal and ethical issues for the health professions. Prof. Zarkowski holds a B.S. in Dental Hygiene, a M.P.H. in Dental Public Health, a teaching certificate in Community Dentistry from the University of Michigan and a Juris Doctor and a certificate in Gerontology from Wayne State University. She joined the University in 1978.

Zakhary, Ibrahim
Ibrahim Zakhary
Associate Professor, Division of Clinical Dentistry, Division of Clinical Essentials and Simulation, teaches both didactic and clinical courses in pain control, oral surgery and is a facilitator for the Evidence Based Dentistry course. His research interests include clinical oral and maxillofacial surgery and bone regeneration and remodeling. Dr. Zakhary holds a Bachelor degree of Dental Surgery and a Master degree of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt. He is also a member and fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Zeff, Lawrence
Lawrence Zeff
Professor of Management. Dr. Zeff teaches courses in Organization Behavior, Organization Theory, Leadership and Strategic Policy. He has consulted with organizations to improve executive decision making, provide leadership and management skills, and create mission statements and implement strategic plans. His research concentrates on team building, strategy implementation, leadership and implementing change. Larry Zeff received a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan, M.B.A. in Management from Wayne State University and Ph.D. in Organization Theory from the University of Pittsburgh. He joined the University in 1973.

Zeitz, Carolynn A.
Carolynn A. Zeitz
Clinical Associate Professor, Division of Clinical Dentistry, teaches clinical pediatric dentistry to dental and dental hygiene students, in addition to didactic courses in pediatric dentistry, co-directs the Infant Oral Health outreach program for dental students, and is Course Director of the Child/Adolescent Patient course for the dental hygiene students. Additional responsibilities include student advising, research mentor and Faculty Advisor for the Pediatric Dentistry Club. Her interests focus on pediatric community outreach programs, faculty development, and a special interest in Infant Oral Health. She has co-authored the chapter “The Pediatric Patient” in the textbook, Clinical Practices of the Dental Hygienist. Ms. Zeitz holds a Certificate and B.S. degree in Dental Hygiene and a M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Detroit Mercy. She joined the University in 2006.

Zhong, Xiaohui
Xiaohui Zhong
Associate Professor of Mathematics, teaches mathematics, especially analysis and other high level mathematics courses. Zhong's research interests include functional analysis, complex analysis, numerical analysis, and innovative teaching of mathematics. Zhong holds B.S. and M.S. degrees from the South China University of Technology, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Wayne State University. She joined the University from Coopers & Lybrand in 1992.

Zimmerman-Oster, Kathleen A.
Kathleen A. Zimmerman-Oster
Professor of Psychology, Director of Industrial Organizational/Psychology Master of Arts Program and Director of Research, Evaluation and Leadership Development for the Institute of Leadership and Service. Zimmerman-Oster teaches general psychology, social psychology, and industrial/organizational psychology. Many of her courses include a service learning component and qualify as part of the Emerging Leaders Program Medallion Award. Her areas of special interest, research and consulting include leadership development, organizational change and human resource assessment. Zimmerman-Oster also provides consultation and technical assistance in the areas of training, evaluation and survey research to local non-profit and human service organizations. Zimmerman-Oster holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Detroit and Master of Arts and doctorate degrees from Wayne State University. She joined the University in 1989.
