Description

The Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information Systems is designed to produce a successful software professional. It offers a wide range of career options. Based on interest, students can obtain a highly marketable degree in Software Production and Management, which will prepare them to carry out a range of IT job functions including: software architect/designer, application and web programmer, software verification and validation tester, network operator and/or administrator, project manager, or information systems auditor. The curriculum conveys the entire body of professional knowledge in best practice with regard to IT work. Its content is derived from and fully conformant with recommendations for programs of this type established by the Association for Computer Machinery (ACM) and the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Along with the traditional program in software construction, we provide a concentration in Information Assurance that allows the student to gain entry into the rapidly growing professional field of Information Systems Audit and Security. The concentration complies with the recommendations of the CNSS 4011 national standard for Information Security Professional Education. Students who successfully complete the specified courses may obtain a certificate approved by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the National Security Agency (NSA) for that field. In addition, it is possible to obtain a certificate sponsored by the Information System Audit and Control Association (ISACA) in Sarbanes-Oxley audit.
