Description
The 5-year Bachelor/Master Degree program allows UDM Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering students to take up to three graduate level courses during their final three academic semesters that will meet undergraduate degree requirements while also accruing course credits toward their graduate degree.
Qualifications for the 5 year BME-MME program are:
-
At least 85 earned credit hours and in good standing with the University
-
A cumulative QPA of 3.25 or greater
-
Being within 3 academic terms of expected graduation
Interested and qualified students may apply via the Chairperson of Mechanical Engineering.
This program provides three distinct advantages:
-
Reduction in the total number of courses required to get both the bachelor and masters degrees
-
Ability to take up to three graduate courses at the undergraduate tuition rate
-
Extension of UDM financial aid to cover the year of graduate study
The three graduate courses which may be taken during the undergraduate program that can also be applied toward the undergrad degree requirements are MENG 5920 CAE (which should be taken in lieu of MENG 4920) and two 5000 level Tech Electives (which should be taken in lieu of the 4000 level versions of the courses). Students accepted into the 5 year BME-MME program MUST enroll in the 5000 level versions of these three courses and receive a grade of C or better in order to gain credit towards both the undergraduate and graduate degrees.
