A multidisciplinary course exploring specific aspects of American culture during different historical periods. A wide variety of source materials (e.g. literary works, art, films, television) are employed. The thematic focus and period will vary. Past topics have included: the American literary and artistic Renaissance of the 1830s and '40s; public representations of women and minorities; popular music; the culture of the Cold War; the decade of the 1950s, the 1960s, etc.	3	0	0
