Prerequisites: ENL 1310 (Minimum Grade of D, May not be taken concurrently) Survey of the literature of the U.S. and the social forces that shaped it from the Civil War through the 1920s. Issues and subjects likely to be addressed include: the expanding notion of American identity, changing gender relations, the struggles of African Americans and immigrant groups, Psychological Realism, Naturalism, Modernism, and revisions of the literary canon.	3	0	0
