Description
The College of Engineering & Science offers a combined Bachelor of Science/Master of Science program in Computer Science.
In order to complete both the B.S. and M.S. degrees in five years, the student must (a) be very well prepared as an incoming freshman, ready to take our core Computer Science (CS) courses; and (b) satisfy all the conditions (see below) at the end of the junior year, in order to be certified for early admission to the M.S. program.

Degree Requirements
The B.S. degree program in CS requires 126 credits of course work including 76 credits required for the major. It is designed to be completed by a full-time student in four academic years. The 30-credit M.S. degree program in CS may take two academic years to complete - dependent upon the academic performance and preparation of the B.S. degree holder, e.g. how well he/she satisfies the prerequisites for admission to graduate school at UDM. However, the requirements of the two degree programs can be accomplished by our best students over a period of five years, instead of six years.
The course requirements for the B.S. + M.S. program will total to 156 credits. They are based on the current existing requirements for each program separately.
A CS major must have achieved the following in (approximately) three years of study toward the B.S. degree at UDM in order to be admitted to the combined program:
-
Completion of at least 95 credits of coursework
-
At least 30 of the 39 Computer Science credits required for the B.S. degree must be completed including particular CS courses that are specified as prerequisites for admission to the M.S. program.
-
Achieving all of the above with a QPA of at least 3.25, both overall and in CS.
