EDU 449 Methods and Materials of Instruction for Mathematics in the Elementary and Middle Schools

Prerequisites:
Must be admitted to Teacher Education Programs.
Design of effective mathematics instruction with a focus on National Council of Teachers of Mathematics standards and its integration into the curriculum through practical strategies, collaborative activities and technology. This course is a hands-on approach focusing on the methodologies as well as a review/analysis of current trends in elementary and middle school mathematics and their integration into the curriculum. Research on contemporary issues in this area is reviewed. Students continue development of professional portfolios. Ten (10) hours of fieldwork are required. | 2 | 0 | 0 | | |
