Description

The Legal Administration/Legal Assistant major, which leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree, is designed to expose students to the different substantive areas of law. Students will learn legal research skills and other important skills necessary to manage the complex mixture of personnel, technology and business that exist in today's legal world.

A Legal Administration major must complete a 27 credit hour core with an additional 15 required elective credit hours. Students must select a three or six credit hour internship in a private or corporate law firm, government or judicial office, or public service organization or placement in one of our practicum sites. The internship program director will assist students with placement.

Independent study or directed research is also available for up to six credit hours. All topics must be approved by the program director at the time of registration.

Post-Degree Legal Assistant Certificate Program
A Legal Assistant Certificate program is offered for students who have already obtained a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. This is a non-degree program. The certificate program requires completion of 33 credit hours in the Legal Assistant/Administration curriculum. The required courses are as follows:
