5 credits (3 didactic and 2 clinical, 1 credit clinical = 8 hrs; 2 credits = 16 hrs/wk X 15 weeks =240 hours. This course focuses on essential content necessary to prepare an Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist for advanced nursing practice. The various role responsibilities of the Clinical Nurse Specialist will be emphasized. Building on knowledge learned from advanced health assessment and pathophysiology, the focus will be on selecting and evaluating evidence-based or innovative nursing interventions for patient problems within the scope of nursing.
