Mary Kelly, RSM [Email]
Assistant Professor and Chair of Health Services Administration, teaches graduate courses in health care management. She recently completed her doctoral dissertation on factors that influence hospital readmission of healthy newborns. Kelly holds a B.A. from Mercy College of Detroit, M.B.A. from Michigan State University and Doctor of Public Health in Health Policy from University of Michigan’s School of Public Health. She joined the University in 1995.

Judy Jaeger [Email]
Associate Professor, Department of Periodontology and Dental Hygiene,teaches dental materials, legal, ethical and professional issues, research and statistics and clinical dental hygiene while maintaining clinical practices. She has published and presented papers on legal/ethical issues, learning styles, interdisciplinary course work and curriculum. Ms. Kwapis-Jaeger was the recipient of the Quest for Excellence in Dental Education. She received a certificate, a B.S. degree in Dental Hygiene and a M.A. in Education from the University ofDetroit. She joined the University in 1978.

Bonnie S Korn [Email]
Assistant Professor of Nursing, has taught courses in medical/surgical nursing, leadership and management, foundations of nursing practice, concepts of nursing practice, and an elective in alternative health care therapies. Her specialty area is medical/surgical nursing of adult clients. Korn spent the academic year of 1995-96 on sabbatical exploring the changes in the health care system and how nursing students can be better prepared to practice in the new health care environment. Korn holds a B.S.N. from Madonna University and a M.S.N. from Wayne State University. She joined the University in 1982.

Richard Kulbersh [Email]
Associate Professor and Chairman, Department of Orthodontics, teaches orthodontics, and growth and development. He has lectured at local, national and international meetings and is a diplomate of the ABP, a fellow of the ACOD, a m3ember of the AAO as well as many other dental organizations. Dr. Kulbersh received his D.M.D. from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and his M.S. in Orthodontics from the University of Detroit Mercy. He joined the University in 1975.

Justin J Kelly, SJ [Email]
Associate Professor of Religious Studies, teaches literature and theology, systematic theology, and world religions. His courses include "Spiritual Autobiographies," "Poets, Mystics, and God," "Theology of the Imagination," and "The Quest For God Today". He was a Warren Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of Tulsa in 1991. He holds A.B. and M.A. degrees from Loyola University in Chicago, a Licentiate in Theology from Woodstock College, and a Ph.D. degree from Yale University. He joined the University in 1972.

Julie J Kim [Email]
Assistant Professor of Architecture, teaches architectural design, visual communications, and construction. Her research and interests lie in exploring the relationship between home and work with evolving developments in technology; in new settlement patterns in housing and landscape; and in investigating the link between technology and the craftsman. In addition to teaching, she is also a partner and co-founder of an architectural practice as well as a design-build company in Detroit. Her professional work includes mutli-function urban developments, loft renovations, commercial, and residential projects. She received her B.A. in Architecture from Wellesley College and her Master of Architecture from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She joined the University in 1996 as an adjunct professor and then, in 1997, as a full-time faculty member.

Lazaros D Kikas [Email]
Assistant Professor of Mathematics, teaches courses in mathematics. He received degrees in electrical engineering and in mathematics from University of Detroit Mercy, a Master’s degree in applied mathematics from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics Sciences from Oakland University. His field of study is in the area of applied discrete mathematics, specifically in graph theory, combinatorial optimization and their applications. He joined the University in 2003.

Daniel B Kennedy [Email]
Professor of Criminal Justice Studies and Security Administration, a former probation officer and police trainer, teaches criminology, victimology, law enforcement theories, multicultural understanding, and courses in the nature of United States private security, terrorism, and homeland security courses. He is a forensic consultant in civil litigation across the United States in cases involving negligent security, police pursuits, use of force, and jail suicides. Kennedy is a licensed Master's Social Worker with professional designations as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and a Certified Clinical Sociologist (CCS). He holds a B.A., M.A., & Ph.D., Wayne State University. Kennedy joined the University in 1975.

Ronald R Koenig [Email]
Associate Professor of Social Work, teaches human behavior and development, social welfare policy and social justice, counseling, philosophy and strategies, and professional social work. He wrote papers on the effects of terminal illness, death. He has held a joint appointment as assistant professor of Social Work and Medicine at Wayne State University. He works to develop a community organization project to bring resources to the community of Highland Park, Michigan to rebuild deteriorating neighborhoods. He earned a B.A. at Central Michigan University, a M.S.W. and post-master’s work at Wayne State University. Koenig joined the University in 1975.

Suk Hi Kim [Email]
Professor of Finance, teaches international finance. He has authored and coauthored 14 finance textbooks and 60 refereed journal publications. In the Journal of International Business Studies, Kim was cited as one of the top 25 international business researchers in the 1980s. He was a Fulbright scholar of international finance at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea during 1992. Kim is the editor of Multinational Business Review and serves on a number of academic journals. He received a M.B.A. from Pepperdine University and Ph.D. in Finance from St. Louis University. He joined the University in 1977.

Mohan Krishnan [Email]
Professor of Electrical Engineering, teaches electronics, communications, controls, and signal processing. His area of expertise is in digital signal processing, in particular its application to pattern recognition problems involving both 1-D and 2-D signals. He has published extensively in the areas of voice and handwritten signature recognition. He holds a Bachelor of Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (Madras, India), a Master of Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (Kanpur, India), and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Windsor (Ontario, Canada). He joined the University in 1984.

Debra A Knight [Email]
Assistant Professor, Physician Assistant Program, teaches Patient Evaluation Practicum I, II and III. Knight also practices as a physician assistant at Specialists in Family Practice/Providence Hospital in Novi. She completed a bachelor of science at Western Illinois University, a Master of Science in Physician Assistant at University of Detroit Mercy and a Master of Science in Adapted Physical Education at Illinois State University. Her area of interest is sports medicine. Knight has held numerous positions in sports medicine/athletic training in the 16 years prior to becoming a certified physician assistant. She also served for more than 10 years as a member of the USA Medical Staff for track and field/cross-country and was selected to work at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles. she joined the University in 2001.

David R Koukal [Email]
Associate Professor of Philosophy, teaches courses in phenomenology, existentialism, continental philosophy, and social and political philosophy. His scholarly research has centered on the phenomenological method, and he has published articles on how the work of various phenomenologists relates to expression, the body, imagination, media, pedagogy, politics and various technologies. Koukal holds a B.A. in general studies from Shimer College and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in philosophy from Duquesne University. He joined the University in the fall of 2000, and was appointed director of the University Honors Program in 2001. He received the Faculty Achievement Award in 2004
