Description
Overview
The Outcomes Performance Certificate Program at the University of Detroit Mercy provides qualified nurses with an opportunity to gain specialty knowledge in important areas including patient outcomes, quality improvement, nursing informatics, and health systems management. Nurses working in or aspiring to positions in management, quality improvement, or other leadership areas will benefit from the knowledge and skills they will gain from this program. Those completing the certificates may choose to go on towards a Masters Degree in Nursing in Health Systems Management.

1. A baccalaureate degree in nursing or another field

2. A minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.75

3. A minimum of 2000 hours as a registered nurse in the state of Michigan

4. One letters of professional recommendation with someone in supervisory capacity

5. An autobiographical statement of personal goals and objectives

6. An interview with graduate faculty

Admission from HSM Certificate Program to HSM Masters Program
Students who complete the HSM certificate program are eligible for admission to the HSM masters program if they meet all admission criteria for the masters program. For entry into the masters program, candidates must have a baccalaureate degree in nursing from a nationally accredited program. If the student's undergraduate cumulative GPA is less than 3.0, but they completed the HSM certificate with a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, the student will not be required to take the GRE. All degree requirements must be completed within seven years.
