Mr. Ladd has worked at the Michigan Children's Law Center since 2009. Before that he was a staff attorney in the Juvenile Division of the Legal Aid and Defender Association from 1981 to 2009. As with MCLC he represented children in abuse and neglect and delinquency proceedings in the Wayne County Juvenile Court. He also represented children on appeal and on occasion in federal court. Prior to joining the organization in 1981, he was a research attorney in the Michigan State Appellate Defender Office in Detroit, representing indigent defendants in appeals to Michigan appellate courts. As a member of the Wayne County Workgroup on the Representation of Children, Mr. Ladd was appointed by the Michigan State Court Administrator's Office to serve on both its Advisory Group on Evaluation of the Representation of Children in Child Protective Proceedings and its Advisory Committee on the Lawyer/Guardian ad Litem Protocol. A frequent author and lecturer, he is coauthor of the chapter on juvenile delinquency in ICLE's "Michigan Family Law" (6th ed).
