Biography

Mohamed Nafea has been an assistant professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Detroit Mercy since Fall 2020. After graduating with his Ph.D. at Penn State, Nafea spent a year as a postdoc at Georgia Tech.

Nafea’s research interests lay at the intersection of information theory, data science and machine learning. He gets very excited about problems that have societal and social impact, including, but not limited to, information security and privacy, fairness, machine transparency and causal inference.
