Detroit Mercy is celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month, which is annually held from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 each year.

The month began has a week-long celebration in 1968 and was expanded to a month in 1988. September was chosen because it is a month that many Latin American countries celebrate their independence.

Below are some ways the University is celebrating, along with how the great Detroit community is also celebrating the month:

Free Salsa & Latin Dance Classes
