###

University of Detroit Mercy’s Master of Community Development (MCD) program through the School of Architecture will host an open house on Saturday, March 28, from 1-3 p.m. in the Peter Peirce Room of the Warren Loranger Architecture Building on the McNichols Campus.

The open house will provide prospective students the opportunity to meet current students, faculty, alumni and community partners and learn more about the program.

The Master of Community Development is a unique program that takes a holistic approach to the theory and practice of community development with a foundation rooted in service, social justice and sustainability. The program uses the HOPE Model, which integrates human, organizational, physical and economic aspects of community development for a comprehensive approach to the renewal of communities.

The MCD is a unique program not found anywhere else in the United States. While other degree programs focus on one aspect of community development, Detroit Mercy’s program emphasizes a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach. Students have collaborated with more than 100 local organizations in support of class assignments, capstone projects, research, internships and fellowships.

The MCD program includes faculty from a number of different academic departments as well as professionals in community development to provide a broad, interdisciplinary foundation. The result is a program that combines theory with practical application.

The deadline for fall 2020 applications to the MCD program is May 1, 2020. To learn more about this open house and the MCD program, please visit http://udmercy.edu/mcd.
