Claudia Bernasconi, assistant professor of Architecture, won the 2011 Environmental Design Research Association Best Paper Award at the national EDRA Conference.

Tony Martinico, professor of Architecture, sponsored a student from the Warsaw Polytechnic Institute, Igor Bialorucki, who won First Place in the ACSA/AISC 11th Annual Steel Design Competition (American Collegiate Schools of Architecture) / (American Institute of Steel Construction).

Allegra Pitera was promoted to associate professor of Digital Media Studies and granted tenure.

Dan Pitera, associate professor of Architecture, was elected to the AIA College of Fellows. He was the only Fellow elected from Michigan in 2011. Also, Pitera and MCD Student Erik Howard conducted an Arts & Community engagement workshop for the city of Lisbon, Portugal in September.

Noah Resnick, assistant professor of Architecture, was selected by invitation to represent the UDM SOA at The Holcim Awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. This is an international competition that recognizes innovative projects and future-oriented concepts on regional and global levels.
