Anthony Martinico: Hello, from Poland

Professor of Architecture Anthony Martinico is currently in Warsaw, Poland teaching at the Politechnika Warszawska as a Fulbright senior lecturer. His courses focus on American architecture and urbanism in the 19th and 20th centuries and architectural theory from 1965 to present. He recently sent an e-mail to Dean Stephen Vogel to update him on his progress in Poland.

"My courses are going wonderfully. My lecture is large, more than 60 are enrolled. From what I hear, word of it is spreading, and I am told to expect even more to attend because of the subject. My seminar was capped at 20 because it is more intense, requiring readings, essays and discussion. After some initial issues with language, I think we are finding our groove. The students seem fascinated with theory, and I am having a ball teaching.

I've also been invited to participate in the Fulbright lecture circuit. Next week I am speaking at the Fulbright Commission's 'Conference on International Education.' Next month I've been invited to speak on theory at the Congress of Architectural Students from Baltic Countries. I've been asked to reserve time next term for additional engagements. Between the teaching and the formalities, it's been a very busy time."
