Elmore Leonard ’50, receives Peabody Award for his TV show Justified
Elmore J. Leonard, Jr. ’50, recently accepted the Peabody Award for his FX television show Justified, which is based on Leonard’s novella Fire in the Hole. The show also earned this honor in 2010.

Sister Evelyn (Claretta) Antoine ’67, recently celebrated 60 years as a Racine (Wis.) Dominican Sister.
Kevin Boyle ’82, who authored the book Arc of Justice: A Saga of Race, Civil Rights and Murder in the Jazz Age, was honored by having the book selected as the 2011-2012 Great Michigan Read. The book was selected by approximately 50 librarians, teachers, professors and authors across Michigan as part of a statewide initiative sponsored by the Michigan Humanities Council. The book also won the National Book Award in 2004 and was named a Michigan Notable Book in 2005.

Myrtle C. Means ’97, ’00, published her first book, The Recipe for Ecstasy—What Women Want: Sexual and Relationship Satisfaction.
Brian Anse Patrick ’87, ’91, a professor of Communications at University of Toledo, has published his third book, The Ten Commandments of Propaganda.
Rachel Schreiber ’11, joined St. Augustine Catholic School in Richmond, Mich. as a fifth-grade teacher at the start of the 2011 school year.
John Shiha ’85, was ordained as a Permanent Deacon in the Catholic Church, Diocese of London, Ontario.
Robert Stevenson ’91, retired in October 2011 from the City of Livonia (Mich.) as police chief. He had been with the police department for 37 years, starting as a police cadet. Stevenson began a new position as executive director of the 900-member Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police.
Rev. Michael Tierney ’73, received the honor of Chaplain to His Holiness (title of Monsignor) in May. He has also retired from Saint Margaret Mary Parish in Algonquin, where he has been the pastor for the last 18 years. In retirement, he teaches in the Ministry Formation Program for Rockford Diocese of Chicago and hopes to be available several days a week at Loras for Mass, reconciliation and have availability for students.
